2025 Frankfort Kentucky Bee Osborne Commemoration

Erwin Bleckley

Bee Osborne was the first pilot in Kentucky’s National Guard. He was also the first US Army soldier to fly a DH-4 aircraft! During WW1, at the age of 32, he was judged to be too old for flying combat! Therefore, he was assigned to test-fly the DH-4s assembled in Europe after they arrived from the United States! He was also responsible for delivering the DH-4s to the operational units!

Due to the tie-in of the DH-4 between Erwin Bleckley and Bee Osborne, the Bleckley Foundation traveled to Frankfort, KY with our Mobile Museum, to support their commemoration of Bee Osborne.
